Baumgartner and his team are ready to execute his ultimate ascent via balloon-powered pressurized capsule to the intimidating height of 120,000 feet, at which point he will jump, freefalling to Earth at supersonic speeds through frigid and virtually airless stretches of atmosphere. Felix will ascend in a helium balloon to an altitude of 120,000 ft / 36,576 m where he will take a leap of faith into the unknown in an attempt to become the first person to break the speed of sound during freefall.
